Inquiry Form

We are thrilled you are interested in The School at Columbia. The inquiry form is the first step in the admissions process at TSC. Due to our unique program, we have a somewhat different application process for families affiliated with Columbia University and neighborhood families not affiliated with the University. Kindly read more about the details of both application processes for Columbia and Neighborhood Families here. If your family meets the eligibility criteria, please complete this form to be considered in our process.

Eligibility Criteria

You are considered a Columbia Family if you:

Are full-time University Officer of Instruction or Administration and qualify for the PTS (Primary Tuition Scholarship) benefit; and live within the five boroughs of New York City.
    OR
Are in the process of being actively recruited by the University and planning to live within the five boroughs of New York City.

Applications will be provided to all PTS eligible Columbia University Families.

You are considered a Neighborhood Family if you:

Currently live in Public School Districts 3 or 5 and are able to provide proof of residence as required by The School at Columbia University. The primary residence of the student and a custodial parent is within the catchment area via lease or mortgage statement. This must be the same address used for federal tax submissions. Verification of primary residence is an annual process after enrollment. Any questions can be directed to our office admissions@theschool.columbia.edu.
    OR
Are a member of Columbia University bargaining units residing in Public School Districts 3 or 5 and are able to provide proof of residence as required by The School at Columbia University. Verification of primary residence is an annual process after enrollment.

Eligible neighborhood Families will be entered into our lottery for application. Applications will only be sent to all eligible Neighborhood Families that are drawn from the lottery where space is available. Kindergarten is our main entry point and the release of applications above Kindergarten (Grades 1-8) will depend on space availability.

Columbia and Neighborhood Families interested in Kindergarten

Kindergarten applicants to The School should turn five by August 31 of the year they will be enrolled in Kindergarten. This is based on The School’s experience of what has allowed most children to be most successful and ready for Kindergarten. If your child has a fall birthday and you wish to discuss their Kindergarten application eligibility at The School in the year they will turn five, please reach out to Mónica Amaro, Director of Enrollment. If an application is released, The School will then make a determination about kindergarten readiness through the admissions process.

-There is no application fee or required testing
